Fernando Toma started his experiments in the theatre in Rome. As actor and performance artist he was looking for new possibilities of expression. Especially the combination of body and light, reality and projections were of interest to him. Dream worlds were created in which he was part of the projections. He invented new technical machines and constructions (e.g. the Skeleton) for these. His search for the limits and possibilities of images in motion are still a major part of his work today. One of his interests are exterior projections and the change in meaning of the building.
