SLIDE SHOW

1983 - Holland Tunnel Dive - Roma - Italy

1983 University of Rom, Italy Performance by Fernando Toma & Patrizia Bettini

A corridor, deep as a well, is the underground place of travel. The bowels of the earth open up and reveal the hidden secret, perhaps an Egyptian tomb, perhaps nothing. And the journey, very short, always repeats the same as if nothing had been discovered or learned, or as if there was nothing to discover except traveling itself and no other pleasure than being absorbed by the vortex.
Technically the show is an interpretation of an architectural structure whose perception by the spectator is distorted. The chosen action has the brevity and repetitiveness of a module, while the visual quality of the image, commented on by the song, has the rhythm and the chromatic charge of a video disc.
